The Ideal Home Show is 108 years old this year!
First appearing in 1908, The Ideal Home Show was launched in the same year that saw the first Suffragette rally, Churchill entering the cabinet for the first tim, the Short brothers founding the first aircraft manufacturing company in England and the publication of The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame – What a year!
Known previously as the Ideal Home Exhibition, The Ideal Home Show is being held at the Olympia in London and has become an intrinsic part of 20th century British history, wowing its visitors with fantastic gardens, full sized houses and product showcases. Throughout the years the show has become synonymous with marvellous gadgets and new inventions – did you know that the electric kettle, vacuum cleaner, toaster and teasmade all debuted at the Ideal Home Show?
The show has attracted millions of visitors – HRH Queen Elizabeth II has visited 11 times – and famous faces can often be spotted. This year, the celebrity ambassadors include: Alan Titchmarsh, Gregg Wallace, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Martin Lewis, Suzi Perry, Katie Piper and George Clarke.
Some of the best names in the industry can also been seen in the popular Food & Drink section of the show, including Jean Christophe Novelli, Simon Rimmer and Phil Vickery.
